This reminds me of a review post for like, DOTA2 I read. Something to the effect of "It took me over 300 hours to realize there weren't 9 idiots in the game, there was 10.", suggesting it took them 300+ hours to realize they too were just as bad as everyone else in their games.
How did she swing a 50/50? I just finished my ten placements and four of them had people join just to either complain about something stupid or idle in spawn the whole game. I guess of the six games that were actually FAIR, I got a 50/50. But that still equates to a 3/10...
In her defense ELO hell is a thing and unless you have the drive to stick it out. solo crawling out in a team game is an insane cliff given it doesnt require much given that a single player can tip a match.

thats a brave take in the age of activision patents, almost as brave as using brazilian showers.
People will play multiplayer games and then complain that they can't consistently win doing the same thing. Almost as if multiplayer games give you completely different opponents with their own playstyles every match, hmmmm.
Engagement-optimized matchmaking might make you have a 50% win-rate, but it won't cause you to be stuck at a given rank - if you can't beat the people who are at the same rank as you, then you *shouldn't* be advancing, and presumably wouldn't advance under any system that ranks people by skill.

I've BEEN in Elo Hell before; back in the ooooold days of League of Legends; I lost all my placement matches and went down to like 150 Elo. I eventually crawled my way back to like 1200 (which is pretty average, but y'know). It IS possible, which means it isn't just a systematic thing.
My problem with EOMM isn't that it ranks you "wrong", but that it makes it hard to tell if you're improving. When one match you go 20 kills 1 death and the next you go 0-7 playing the exact same way, it's hard to tell what strategies were actually good VS what worked because you were fighting scrubs

If you are truly a good player you will win more games then you loose. Its simple Math :P The ONLY games where EOMM really works would be 1v1 games. Because there the EOMM could actually guarantee you keep sitting at a 50% winrate by giving you opponets far above your skilllevel.
The world is full of snow flakes who think they have what it takes to be stars. Its something I learned when playing WOW:WotLK, AKA "Face Roll Your Keyboard For Epics".
