700 USD is the height of stupidity or arrogance, and this is from a company that once mortally wounded Sega with a single sentence of "Two ninety nine."
My main issue with a console that expensive, is that if you already have the first model, well, you need to pay the whole thing again. If i'm gonna expend that sorta mondey, I need it to last.
With PC, I just do an upgrade from my previous model, for a fraction of a full brand newn computer.
If you don't already have a PS5 and really want top performance and resolution, and got money to spare, go for it. Otherwise, not really advisable. I mean, when was the last time the PS5 had a new exclusive game? (part 2/2)
I'd advise against buying it, personally. It's a luxury item, especially if you already have a PS5. And then there's the advanced controller ($200), vertical stand ($40) and the Optical Disk Drive ($80), which all drives the PS5 Pro up to a cool grand. (part 1/2)
Lucky you xD In EU it arrives for 800 euros, that would be nearly 900 dollars.
There is literally no reason to not buy a gaming pc that would be more potent, more games to play and you can use for more things than just gaming (and also you don't need to pay extra for PS Plus).
That song is wrong, by the way. PlayStation doesn't have zero games. It has negative one games due to Concord's failure.

As someone who DID play the console game for a moderate portion of his life, One of the nice things about having a PC is that you have something to play your games on AND you can do other things with it too. My main PC can play most games still but it's also my work pc when i'm remote working.
Nobody in America is into this either. There's a cost-of-living crisis going on everywhere. This console is basically a high-end luxury buy, since you'll only really benefit if you have a 4K/8K TV (the latter of which is extremely expensive).
I was actually talking with my coworkers about it yesterday, even here in america 700 dollars for a console is insane, especially since you apparently have to buy the disk drive separately?
here in brazil, would be around BRL 8k, or ~8 months of miminal wage.

As I recall, the PS3 sold extremely well (at least where I live), not because of gaming, but because it was the cheapest blu-ray player you could get at the time by almost 400$. Funny enough, I don't recall the 4 or 5 having anything special like that, so I still have the 3 and game on pc.
Even in the US $700 is a big chunk of cash to spend on a console. At least a proper computer has other functions and more customization potential, so higher prices are less outrageous.
I bought my Xbox ND ps2 on layaway when I was in Collage. My parents had bad experiences with Credit, so I opted to never use it myself.
I can see devoted Sony fans doing one of those two options. Or waiting for a Black Friday sale.

For what it's worth the PS3 at $500 costs more if you factor in inflation, about $780 USD. Sony is probably banking on people either sucking it up and buying the Pro, or just buying the regular PS5 instead
I think only the Sony diehard fans are actually excited for the PS5 Pro.
Most of the Playstation exclusives are now on PC, so a lot of people don't see the point in getting a PS5 that's the same cost of a PC that plays the same games, but does less.
I'm not a console player, so I might be a bit biased, but I personally wouldn't buy it. It's not just that it costs $700, it's that there's hardly any noticeable difference between the PS5 and PS5 Pro.
