Wow the number of times I've slammed my academic peers with that argument. They like debate, chewing over old bones. They hate a decisive truth...that they could fix.

Wikis truly do bring out the egotists so I commend anyone trying to hang onto a sliver of their sanity but hear me: it's not worth it. You are better off spending your time on things no one can erase your work from.

And of course someone will try to, in a panic, replicate your work and get at least half of it just blatantly wrong and then THEY get flak for it and it's even worse off than the initial war.

@Sara Kelthad - Oh GOD, nooooo....the reminders of that horrible time when I thought I could be helpful. It's so true that eventually you burn out and say, 'go screw yourselves then, I'm out' and then you see the backlash in a forum somewhere that complains when entire segments are totally gone.

Reason I don't is you end up in "editing wars" with people undoing your additions even when you're right, or editing what you added to make it more confusing. Turned me off of ever editing a wiki again when that happened to me, to the point I deleted all the additions to the wiki I made and left.

I have mixed feeling about wikis, sometimes it's great source for research and planning ahead, but other times they ruin all the mystery and player skill development. Also wiki interfaces are not very user friendly which prevent a lot of people from sharing knowledge.
