And its really silly to blame a company entirely for one defective PC, while you cnat even say, wich hardware it have installed, duh. You are really good artist< sure , but as techician you are...mmm...lets just stick with art, ok ? :)

Me myself cant say anything about desctop computer manufactured by by Dell, `couse in our country we rarely buy ready-to-use desctops, we assemble them from separate parts, cause its not a rocket science and its possible even for schoolchild. But Dell have some really neat notebooks, like G5 series.

After my mobo needed upgrading I decided to do a full fresh build (enough needed to be replaced anyway). It was a bit nail-biting figuring out what bits to use but I now know how to build a PC fully from parts instead of just swapping in bits.

My first and last Dell ended when I went to upgrade it and found it had Rambus ram. DDR2 (I think it was 2 at the time) was a fraction of the price and I didn't want to keep shoveling money into a dead horse. Got a hand-me-down from a friend and Frankenputered new parts in as needed for ten years,

DELL is also known to fill their computers with a bunch of proprietary crap that makes it near impossible to fix anything without going thru DELL, and they have an awful customer service, so you must pray that everything run fine, or you'll be better off buying a new computer

@Jo, am Software Programmer. Click on the windows icon and search for 'Remove a Program'. Then search for 'Dell' and uninstall all programs with Dell in their name. It'll run much faster.

However as easy as things slot in, make sure your processor and motherboard are using the same pin set and most importantly. Be very VERY carefull when connecting your motherboard with your chosen case as one wrong connection there can fry the motherboard. So seek help with that!

This is kinda why I stay away from pre-built computers and laptops as they don't have a long lifespan most of the time, probably intentionally to force you to buy their newest line of crap sooner. But that aside when building a computer yourself its not that hard as most stuff just slots into place.

And yet you don't write any specification of your 2014 or 2019 machine (CPU,GPU,RAM,HDD/SSD, etc). Do some research how to optimize your PC, like get rid of bloatware with reinstalling Win10 from day one (with clean instal, not Dell Recovery image, but from Microsoft Download program).

Any desktop that's not self built is basically a steal, especially since with self built one you know what you put in exactly and why. Git gud, Jo~ <3

Granted, I took it way too far and bought an iMac because I didn't want to constantly fight with random problems but now I have to buy a whole new computer AGAIN because there's, again, no way to upgrade the damn thing. At least it's not in an endless blue-screen reboot cycle like the first one was.

Hewlett-Packard is my own horror story of a pre-built computer. They make good ACCESSORIES for computers but everything that was at the dead-end of its life and couldn't be upgraded? They packed as much of that into this computer I got. I couldn't even upgrade the drivers!

Its 2019, and people still buy Dell? I've been rolling my own PCs since 1992.
