If you go with the theory that the protagonist is the main character grown up and thrown through time, this is just character development. Once, she was the hunted- but now the hunter....

Your kidding, Jo I grew up in the 90's. A number of movies that came out during that decade seem to be based off of ideas people heard at a party. 'A Bugs Life' and 'Ants', 'Armageddon' and 'Deep Impact', 'Dante's Peak' and 'Volcano'. I'm sure I could think up more if I wanted to.
