I have no room to judge, I feel the same thing about the original Doom.

I should re-install it and see what I've been missing out on for years...assuming I'll even still have a decent enough framerate.

I'd call you biased, but I agree with the sentiment. TF2 is the best game of its era and is still worth comparing other games to.
