@Jo Pereira: sorry for late response, hope you still see this, but shell is basically a user interface reskin. I'm not 100% sure if it does a lot else, i'm not software savy but it does me a world of help, i don't care for windows 8-10 interface.

@Barkingdeathsquirrel junior: Don't listen to his crap. Windows 10 is the best windows ever made, you can disable all information sending, and if you are not a criminal why would you care if they in fact looked at you harddrive? But in matter of fact, they don't (unless you expressly allow it).

Jo, do NOT get windows 10!!!
It will constantly be sending information to microsoft and part of the EULA agreement is that they can look at everything on your hard drive whenever they want! They can also can remove programs that they think are illegal!
It's a load of pain for all users!

@Jo: My only advice is to do a clean installation rather than upgrading from an old Windows version.

It may take longer to back up and restore all of your stuff manually, but it will save you a looot of trouble in the end.

You can get genuine W7 keys dead cheap on eBay that comes from scrapped PC's. Buy one, set up a 7/10 dual boot while the free upgrade is still in effect, and stick with 7 until you feel like swapping over.
