Okay, here's one: after they left, everybody got more money because they didn't have to split it as many ways. Letting them come back would mean the boys would have to share again and make less money, so the boys have instituted this policy to keep them away.

This raises the question of how they got their jobs in the first place, since they were TF2 mercs before they were characters in this strip. But I can probably think of an explanation...
