Know that little HUD you see that tells you the status of all your stuff?  The engineer actually sees that.  It's built into his goggles.

I know th player has the HUD that tells them, but its like the engie has a chip implanted in his brain.

It's simple. He heard Susy scream.

Sensors installed inside their machines. If it takes damage, or are simply hacked, they know. I find the Engy-sense tingling panel funny, though.

they have a screen that tells them if you're killing their stuff.

I always found it kind of strange that Engies just kinda know that someones messin' with their shit from halfway across the map.
