What people are saying about "Coal-Like"

DN:F was a good sequel to DF3D, now compared to modern games yes it's lack luster but going straight from 3D to DNF it's a good sequel now if they released it when they originally planned to (2009ish) it would have been better recieved

Why does everybody think that DN F was a bad game? I played it, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be but it was still better than all of the COD games.

Combine: Gearbox was put in charge of Duke Nukem only last year. The reason it took so long was because George was butt hurt about Quake's higher tech so he was constantly trying to get the "latest and the greatest" instead of making a good game.

The problem with DNF is the fact it came out waaaaaay too late, if it came out in 2007 or sooner it would literally have been considered as the best game ever but, thanks to Gearbox it came out too late, if you ask me, it's the jokes and references that are made we simply got used to them

I bought E.Y.E to play with some bro's, done the achievement, received E.Y.E as a gift, more bro's are playing now.
Love you Valve.

I still liked DNF. Back when the project was 'killed' for the last time we saw all of the work done so far and I (and others) said that if they were to release what they had so far it would be better than nothing. That is how I rationalize and enjoy this game.

DNF was fun. But I mean it's a game that's been based off of 14 year concepts and design. Of course it's going to be a bit out of touch. I still bought it, First Access Club, and all of the current DLC.

@Andrew Hall At best, Duke Nukem Forever is a fun, if unremarkable game. At worst, it's mediocre. But it is certainly not the terrible game that most people want to make it out to be. I mean, hell, look at Mindjack if you want a REAL terrible game.

Honestly, I really liked Duke Nukem Forever. It was a fun game and most importantly of all, I had fun playing it.

No offense but if hating DNF is a "Bandwagon" then the bandwagon is missing three wheels, on fire and carrying 3 kinds of plagues and 4 different STDs.

I just got DNF for $5 in the steam sale. Totally worth it. It's not a great game but not really bad either. I missed the titties is the last half of the game. :(

Really now, aren't we off the "DNF sucks" bandwagon yet? It didn't, so find a new joke.

I'm pretty sure that bad kids got coal instead of presents so they weren't totally screwed, ya know they could at least keep warm. Though all things considered the naughtiest kids could collect all their coal and become an energy monopoly by the time they hit 18.

Why is Santa's right arm so short?
At the first look, I thought Santa had both hands down, and there was a big fake arm lying on the floor next to the wall.

The women crying out for their fathers while they suffer as they're rAped and then explode by aliens or dukes weapons while he makes abortion jokes was in bad taste this time around.
It wasnt a call of duty clone. Just a cloned aspects of everything. Yay for the shields. over 1 year ago

Seriously though the game wasn't that bad. I actually had fun.

I actually think people were having too high hopes for the game. When I bought it in a good enough sale and played it. Yeah it wasn't the best game out there but I could still see it was Duke Nukem. Lame jokes, Lame One Liners, Women in little to nothing clothing. It was Duke Nukem.
Shtorovchan

Oh, come on people! This game is not THAT bad. Sure, graphics could be better, jokes could be smarter and I know it doesn't exactly feel like 1990, BUT WHO CARES. At least it doesn't try to be a Call of Duty clone like 90% of all other FPS on market.

I kinda liked DNF. It was pointless, over the top, and stupid. That's kinda what I expected. There were a couple things I wish they had kept from the older games (carrying around 50 weapons would be on that list), but it wasn't TERRIBLE.

If they'd remade Duke Nukem 3D (to fix the engine up, give a little more release time, etc), they'd probably had much more positive reviews. There'd be complaints of it not being a new game, though.
Meh. over 1 year ago
What surprised me most was that people still expected the game to be good when it came out. Not sure why, as after 13 years stuck in developement and using technology, humor and logic from back then while obviously going to use CoD-Gamemechanics not suiting it.
Well, at least I know I was right. ^^

I managed to get DNF for $1.05 for the PS3. I also think it's not terrible, but it really is only, at best, average, so I can see where all the disappointment came from.

Funny thing - originally, coal was the present Santa brought to good children (because, yes, it made good fuel for fire). Naughty children got switches so that their parents could beat them.
Kids today are so spoiled.

I already bought and got mad at the Xbox version, but I re-bought it on Steam. I will say this: The Multiplayer is a ton of fun, even if the single-player is total shit

I actually like the game so far (just got it thanks to steam recently) and I think it's an okay game. Problem is that it took so long just to make an okay game, it would be like if I took 15 hours to make an average sandwich.

Judging by the comments that have been posted, Duke Nukem is eerily similar to Shadow the Hedgehog. Both games were shat upon in reviews, and yet people still like them.
Whether or not Duke holds the same for me is a different matter.

@m1racle: Doesn't that count as child cruelty? In any case, at least coal can be used as fire fuel; I wouldn't use a Nickelback cd for a coaster......

I enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever for what it was worth.
Wasn't the best shooter (that would be the Prime Trilogy, hands down) ever made, but it was fun. Controls were good on PC.
