Correction: Ryo is actually the main character of Art of Fighting (also from SNK), and Capcom created Dan to poke fun at SNK ripping them off (though Ryo had long stopped being a ripoff by the time Dan was created)

Dan is a joke character from street fighter, a tongue in cheek portrayal of King of Fighter's main character, in response to KoF making a joke character of ryu/ken. dan's fireballs have 0 distance, his kick goes too far, ect... this makeshift style is called saikoryu "the strongest style".

touhou is a bullet hell shooter. cirno is their joke character due to the manual showing the splitscreen mode and her sprite. the sprite is referenced as #9:idiot. it doesn't help that her patter in easy mode is dodgeable by standing right in front of her. in fandom she strives to be the strongest.

slenderman: touhou is a game about lolis for Japanese pedophiles. There's probably more to it than that, but that's as much as I've gathered without playing any of the damn things.
