I never thought the titles were tied to the "Type" of game (although some games argueable cater to one or the other), but more of a player's "attitude" toward the game.  Hardcores - All about the winning and min/maxing.  Casual - Make a few points, have a few laughs.

This is just fueling an already large fire.
Also, what about the term for the player that plays both "casual" and "hardcore" games?

Casual gamer = someone that doesn't play mainstreem "muy macho" games but prefer puzzle and social games. The antonyme is "Hardcore gamer".
