Guinsoo developed DotA for like a year. IF has developed it for almost 8 years. WC3 DotA was at its best (most popular and competitive) during 2008-2010, after IF had been developing it for 3 years.

DotA Allstars as it is today traded hands twice before Icefrog came to be in charge of its development. The character design follows that of WC3 units. It's not Icefrog's IP to sell to Valve, and Valve did nothing to make it their own.

I like seeing a bit of LoL in the comics, though even as a LoL player I enjoy the Dota 2 comics. They might as well be two sides of the same coin when it comes to tactics and plays.
