Quick Question

Anyone else having weird lag with sniper ever since the engie update? I remember three cases where it took three seconds for a headshot to take effect. I don't think it's the porn torrents, those were shut down at that instant.

Did anyone else playing SC2 get flashbacks of Wing Commander's character interaction, or was it just me? That alone was a bit of a nostal-gasm that made it enjoyable.

yea i got SC2, and i do have to say i like the solution they used in it's campaign, in short you have a lot of campaigns, and most of them give you a unit that you can use from then on, also 90% of the upgrading(special properties, not the +1 dmg/armor) for units is done in a non-combat-play menu.

If you're interested in seeing the Starcraft 2 campaign, there are recordings of the stream I did for the last two days, starting here.

The Campaign for SC2 is amazing. I can't put it down. If you liked StarCraft, you'll like it. If you liked WarHammer 40k, you'll like it, if you liked WarCraft 3, you'll like it. It's got components for each of those(i feel) and much more!

@Batabii: Huntsman charges twice as fast and I'm pretty sure does more damage to buildings than a fully charged Sniper shot, so it's much easier to kill them if the building engie is moderately far away, and any other repairers get less time to react

Considering I can snipe with it, and in the end, simmply find killing midair scouts with footshots amusing enough, I don't mind the huntsman.

@UselessFool: Hey, it's either that or they use stickbombs. Lesser of two evils.

My only complaint about the huntsman is when people just spam it through at a corner knowing people occasionally go around the corner to attack the objective. Then it's just spam...

Red sniper dot, Red heavy. Why is the red sniper sniping his own heavy?

At least you get to throw your pee at people, and that's all that's important right?

Apparently, you've never heard of the, 'See Crowd, Barely aim at Crowd, Kill Random Enemy' strategy.
It goes exactly as I said the name. Oh, one last thing. I've sniped before, and I'm attacked a sniper before. We're strafing, but your hitboxes are so big, that it doesn't even matter.

This comic is so true it hurts:D
That aside, the SC2 campaign is awesome, it's Starcraft as usual, only it's got rpg elements to upgrade your forces. I've sorta been playing it on and off all day ^^;

Near the end, you forgot the part where the Heavy sees your arrow coming and casually steps out of the way. D=

Also, Huntsman >>> buildings with engie more than 10 feet away. Also very satisfying to find that one tiny little spot you can shoot the engie through with an arrow, do so, then pwn the sentry

@TommyKoopa: The best part about using Huntsman isn't listening to whoever you just headshotted whine about luck after you do it. It's showing everyone online that I did.

@Lancars:
Huntsman arrows aren't lag compensated. Only hitscan gets lag compensated. Projectiles -Flares, baseball, rocket, nades, stickies, arrows, jarate - don't get the benefit of lag compensation. Needles aren't technically projectiles, but they aren't lag compensated either. about 1 year ago
@TommyKoopa: I can understand being headshot by the huntsman if you run straight at the sniper but alot of times i'm pinned to the back wall even tho i ran around the corner 10 seconds ago. lag comp is insane sometimes and i get shot through walls and such or i'm jumping around.

why does everyone hate the huntsman? At least for you, it is easily dodgable... with a ministrafe

All I have to say is when someone on your team is trying to snipe with 700 ping, don't count on anyone on the other team dying to headshots. Hell, I don't even know how someone can maintain a connection to a server with 700 ping.

since most of us play TF2, or keep track of it. I think everyone here can appreciate what we can do as a community. about 1 year ago
The best part about using Huntsman is listening to whoever you just headshotted whine about luck after you do it. Especially when it's a Scout who was just running straight at you with apparently no knowledge of the A or D keys.

I can't account for how good the *entire* campaign is, but it's definitely far better than the original.

you forgot to include the ambassador.

I wish my ping stayed down at 200, it likes to hang between 500 - 800 where I'm at. I can only play engineer.

This comic partly explains why I never play Sniper. For some reason, I'm always in the 2nd example, except observers think the shot hit, and the Heavy's head gets painted red, yet he takes no damage and is at a lower ping than me. I normally play at <100 ping.
Biomech

@Harry: For games, ping the average round trip time, in milliseconds, it takes for the game data to be sent from your computer, to the server, and then back to the computer. Higher ping means a longer time for the data to refresh and more game lag.

Speaking of SC2 campaign, I just now barely pried myself away from it because I need sleep.

It feels weird posting before the inevitable Zack/Frank joke.
Anyway, this is the other reason I avoid playing sniper, other than the fact that I have terribad sniper aim, It's always seemed much easier to put a scattergun shot into the back of a laggy player. |
