Also, the instant they said "chili", it was obvious who was the client. He could have gone there and back and saved up on the delivery fee.

I just assume there are regular animals besides the talking animals. Like how Pluto and Goofy are both dogs but one is a person and the other is a pet. Or for a Japanese example how Hello Kitty have a non-anthropomorphic pet cat. Also the chillidog thing came from the American cartoon originally.

Maybe they were futuristic (for the 90's) veggie dogs! It was a sci-fi setting so it's not impossible. Alternatively: What happens if Eggman roboticizes a regular hotdog? Can mecha-sonic eat it?

Sonic's favorite food is chili dogs, so presumably he'd at least be okay with pork, which makes up the majority of meat toppings available for pizzas.

Might have been a regional thing. But I seem to remember Sonic and Chili dogs going hand in hand.

I would have called the strip "Gotta go fast!", but I'll admit it was the low hanging fruit. XD
