I never thought about it but I have a similar experience when it comes to The International.
I won't watch any DotA all year and then gorge with the International.
At the end I don't want any more DotA for a year.

@Trygyl: I found the best way is to pick the best matches of the day. The sheer volume is just too much for one person to watch it all even if they are willing.

I imagine for the earlier games you could probably just look up a highlights reel, assuming they do those.
