The thing with no mans sky is kinda like a lot of previous games. Somehow the idea gets around that the next game will be the literal second coming of Christ and no game can meet anywhere near the criteria.

Oh no jo, you badmouthed the game. Maybe since you aren't a reviewer a bunch of people wont start insulting you.

And yet another moment for the Ho-Yay page on TV Tropes

Part 2: The other thing is that most of the worlds you run into while following the game's general guided path is mostly yellow meaning that if you don't go off the path generally laid before you you are less likely to run into the other types.

Two part comment:
Part 1: Something to note about the game that may make it a bit more interesting for you is that there are four tiers of star systems. Yellow, Red, Green, and Blue. As the tier goes up it increase the odds of rare minerals as well as the planets being more lush.

Having Starbound finally come out of beta, I'm not certain what No Man's Sky offers outside of 3d graphics. And since I already own Starbound... well...

Yeah, my overhype sensor tripped when the devs started talking about procedurally generated worlds. Too many people think that procedural generation is some kind of silver bullet that automatically allows developers to create infinite amounts of content for free.

@nightarix: I know, i just meant to say that some players might find it a bit repetitive after a while, but, to tell you the truth, they should be expecting it!

Like you said, there's only so much the game can do. However, i don't doubt that there might be a few planets that'll stand of!

The core issue is inventory management in an exploration game is beyond retarded, and there simply aren't enough art assets from which to generate interesting terrain.

One of the main things the game misses is for example architecture, they implement a bunch of different races but no settlements.

Part 2: add to that the finate number of possible results with a massively larger pool of seeds(depending on how high they let the hexidecimal strings go) and you don't end up feeling a world is "unique" enough after your 50th or so planet.

@Shareazu unfortunately making every planet 'unique' with a RNG generation system is impossible, even if they reserved the seeds(the hexidecimal string that made the world) when they were made, there would be many similar if not exact duplicates of any particular world.

Did you watch Gameranx's video on starting a new game in No Man's Sky?

I believe the thing with No Man's Sky is that it is kind of like Starbound, in a way that, in theory, yes, every planet is 'unique', but they all end up being pretty much the same, with some different quirks, like harsh atmosphere, aggressive fauna, etc... Still, i liked the concept of both games!
