Lengthy, but it explains it better than I care to, you're free to enjoy shitty games, but don't try to pretend it is something that it isn't. The story is beyond terrible, as your taste seems to be.

Okay, I am usually not into crack-shipping, but taken the track-record of the comic and the fact that these two have a lot to bond over... KISS, YOU FOOLS!
(cont) You can't really blame all the problems on localization either, as even in Japan the reception of other M was abysmal. The only sources that praise other M seem to be commercial review sites (aka, entirely unreliable, IGN nominated other M for best story 2010) and user reviews hate it.
(cont) Samus' backstory was contrived at best and contained more cheese than the city of Gouda (not to mention it blatantly contradicted her canon backstory and prior characterization)
The best thing to be said about other M is that it was "playable" but fuck, so is Ride to Hell.
(cont) Other M had a ton of other issues, from bland poorly implemented gimmicks to terrible pacing, awful dialogue (VA performance notwithstanding) terrible set pieces and a plot that made no sense. Samus' PTSD was used as a plot device that comes up, goes away, comes back again and goes again.
@Cloud Hiro: I imagine it's been a while since you've played the game, as you seem to be suffering what most victims of terrible games go through after not playing it for a year or so.
Bad games always seem acceptable if we've at least finished them, after roughly a year at least.
Oh, and other M's monotone? culture thing. Ninteno of japan actually kepted asking the american VA to tone down the emotion. cause rather than how stupid blandness it is over here, its a sign that "this person is incredibly strong willed" over there.
(cont) there were some problems there. "hay, we want to put a hell run into the game before giving you the varia suit upgrade" "ok, but samus already has the suit so its being re-activated" "ah. damaged suit?" "nope, we got something else in mind story wise" "..."
honestly Other M wasnt really all that bad. gameplay was great. Story besides some obveous glaring problems was not as bad as everybody thinks. and really the problems people mostly point out were first 5 minutes and barely mentioned again.. Nintendo handled the story so (cont.)
There are WAY too many characters known better for Smash Bros instead of their own games. And the newest member of the club is soon to be Mega Man. *sob* DAMN YOU CAPCOM!
Samus is technically considered a form of Exterminatus.
Bowser doesn't want to explode the Mushroom Kingdom anyways.

I believe the heels problems come for an early concept art from zero mission, in with the designer wrote zero suit's heels shouldn't be high.
